TOPIC: Riverbend Landfill: A Historical Perspective
Waste Management has submitted an application for a 29-acre expansion of the Riverbend Landfill. Oregon DEQ is currently reviewing the application documents: http://www.deq.state.or.us/nwr/RiverbendLandfill.htm. This polarizing topic has garnered much public interest from environmental activists who oppose the expansion of the landfill. Leonard’s presentation will address the history of the Riverbend Landfill; he will review environmental questions our profession asks when permitting a landfill site, focusing on the engineering and design questions related to this project including floodplain risk and seismic design.
